How much “green” you are?

How much “green” you are?

How much do you care about the environment in your daily life?

In fact, a lot of people have a sense of eco-awareness, they do not have ideas what they can do for the environment. However, in a lot of phase, the rising of the awareness can be seen among the young people and it is even getting a big trend in the world.

Today, in this post, I want you to know about the concept of sustainability and some interesting fact about environmental-friendly projects.

Technically, sustainability means “the ability to be maintained at a certain rate of level"
Thanks to the development of economy and technology, our life has become much richer and convenient.
However, now we are facing a lot of problem mainly caused by these technologies.
UN suggested Sustainable Development Goals in 2015. It aims to solve problems we have and realize sustainable society by rising 17 specific goals.

Sustainability is going to be a keyword in 21st century and the awareness is getting bigger and bigger.  It is the time for us to consider about living sustainable life more seriously.

2, Let’s be a “Green” person

From a report, people can be divided into 5 groups depends on the willingness to purchase eco-friendly stuff.

True Blue Green (9%)
They are always taking some sustainable action to make some positive change to the environment
Greenback Green (6%)
They are not that active comparing to True Blue Green, but they are still more active than the average consumer.
Sprouts (31%)
Sprouts believe in environmental causes in theory but not in practice. Sprouts will rarely buy a green product if it means they need to pay more.
Grousers (19%)
They tend to be uneducated about environmental issue and suspicious about the ability to make some effects.
Basic Browns (33%)
Basic Browns are caught up with day-to-day concerns and do not care about environmental and social issues.

Normally, people recognize green products are priced higher than the other conventional products. If the products use unique and valuable materials, it can be expensive, but there are the other cases.

Intermarche, which is the third biggest supermarket company in France, launched a project called “Inglorious fruits and vegetable”. They sold ugly looking fruits and vegetable which are thrown only because of the looking with reasonable price. To appeal the good quality and taste of these products, they also made soup and fresh juice using them.

In this case, not only the farmers and company, consumers also got reward, so it shows us
being green consumer does not always mean you need to spend extra money.

Also, Patagonia, the worldwide clothes brand, has been known as the most environmental -friendly company in the world. There are a lot of initiatives they have done so far, but today I want to share the campaign named “WORN WEAR”.  It was held by Patagonia Japan and in this project, Patagonia forces on making the condition of products longer. They offer the repairing event and information how to wash and repair clothes. It means thanks to the program consumer can save money on another clothes.

3 Conclusion

As you can see, being friendly to environmental might not difficult than we expected.
However, over the 50% of people are still stay as Sprouts, Grousers and Basic Browns.

In the next post, I will introduce the current trend and some environmental issue now we have.
