How much waste do you genarate?

1, Introduction

Word bank announced that without agent action, global waste will increase by 70% by 2050.
We currently produce two billion tonnes of waste per year between 7.6 billion people. Especially within developed countries, the waste issue is getting more serious.
Let’s look out the details of the consumption.

Global waste composition (percent)

As you can see the summed amount of Plastic and Paper and cardboard is almost 30%of the consumption of waste.
Today, I want to focus on these issues.

The impacts of plastic
You may think that most of plastic is recycled to another product.
However, there is the fact that 91% of plastic waste is actually just damped into the ocean. The article and the following video will help to understand the crucial problem they generate.

As some highlights of the video,
①Plastic, which was invented to make our life much better, now threaten our planet and even our health.

②A lot of marine creatures are sacrificed with the micro-plastic

③ Even though plastic have become big problem in the world, the issue is still complicated because of the low-cost production of plastic and the relation between the food waste.

Up to this point, you may start understanding the threat about the plastic-issue.
Now, I want to narrow the area.

3 How about Australia?

Australia is a rich in natural resources and we have beautiful ocean known as Great Barrier Reef. However, as I mentioned before, the ocean is affected by the pollution.

Garbage disposed in oceans cause a number of dangers. Marine animals mistake plastics as food, and it attribute to excruciating deaths when it blocks their breathing and digest processes. Over 1 million marine creatures are killed due to the plastic particle in the ocean.

As a conservation program, for instance, AMCS(Australian Marine Conservation Society) has been doing a lot of action to conserve their marine environment.
From a websiteit says “Around the world, nations are acting on reducing plastic pollution by setting targets and banning plastics – but Australia is falling behind. As the largest island in the world, Australia should be a leader in fighting ocean plastic pollution.

Now they ask for donation to protect marine species from micro-plastic.
